Final Reflection

After we had our final Ted Talk in front of our class, we feel that we have accomplished a lot. This project has not only helped me grow as a student, but also as a person. I was able to think about what I really wanted to do and be passionate about and I think this was a big part of the project. No matter what struggles we were going to go through at first, we were always going to change our path back onto something that was important to us and also a common goal that we all shared. I felt confident in our Ted Talk and also our overall product. In the end, I feel that the product was not really as important as the process we went through to get to where we wanted to go. I think the Ted Talks that other people produced were also very cool to listen to and see where other people took their interests. There was a really good variety of projects and I am happy that I was able to hear them. I am very happy that we were able to relate this project to our growth as people outside of the classroom too, and I feel that I have done my very best to finish this year as strong as I could.

20 Time Overview/Reflection

For my 20 time project, my main original goal was to inspire and motivate people. As time went on and the project became more in sight, I decided to join up with some of my friends with the same interests as I had. As we discussed more and more, we realized that the best way to fully keep us engaged in what our goal was and to grab our audience was to create something that was close to all of our hearts. That ended up being football.

The original idea/plan was to make a football camp to introduce the incoming freshman to the Saratoga Football Program, as well as our weight lifting program. We were very excited to get rolling and start something that we were super passionate about! Then, we hit our first setback. We went to talk to the athletic director of our school, Coach Lugo, and we found out that the camp might be a liability issue to run the camp. We were then forced to think outside of the box and come up with a solution to what our next move would be. We then thought of getting on social media! We thought that this was a good idea because we could not only reach our specific audience, but also reach out to a larger group of people as well. As time went on and the account started to get more and more followers, we started thinking about posting some content. We also hit more setbacks along the way with getting quality content. We originally were set on recording our own material, but the videos we got did not turn out as well as we pictured them. We then had to change our route a bit and think about linking other people’s workout routines in our posts. Nearing the end of the process, we ended up feeling that we should not only provide information on routines, but also motivation for our followers as well.

Overall, I think the project went much better than I thought it would. My group and I all felt that we ended up where we wanted to be in the end of the project, no matter how messy the path was to get there. We started off broad with the camp for young kids coming into the football program, but then narrowed our focus into being more of what we wanted out of the project in the first place: to inspire people and motivate them to be the best possible version of themselves. This project was very hard to think of at first, but I think it was very cool how no matter what path anyone took, they still were going to end up doing something that reached their starting goal. If I had the chance to do this project again, I would get a head start much earlier. With a head start, I would be able to foresee the setbacks ahead and plan for them to come so I could adapt easily and come out with a more satisfying project as a whole.
I would like to think of this 20 time project as more of a first step. I would love to continue to inspire and help people become better and feel much better about themselves through hard work and dedication. Whether this will be expanding my media or making my own content, I look forward to the road ahead of me. I know that I will be doing the right thing and I hope that my groupmates and other people as well continue to follow me and hopefully join my passion and feel as deeply about it as I do. We have come a long way from our first plan to our final product. 20 Time Update

As we approach the final days of our project, we are feeling pretty good about where we are and what our remaining plans are. We have filmed some of our videos would like to wait a little bit until we post them since summer football is starting up soon and it will be on the mind of many players. When spring football starts, we plan on not only getting some pictures, but also trying to get some video of the practices and give the under class a little taste of what they are in for when summer football starts. As our 20 time is ramping down, we have a solid foundation of what we want to do and content to post.

Change of Plans

As of right now our idea to have a football camp at the school can't work because of rules and restrictions. However, we are pursuing the the instagram account where we post workouts that the middle school kids would be able to do on there own time. This solves the problem of not having permits, and also is beneficial in that if kids have scheduling conflicts the videos allow them to do it on their own time. The downside to this is that we can't be there to instruct the kids so in our videos we must be as precise as we can when giving instructions on form or technique.

20-Time Update

Setbacks are always a part of life. They are hard to get passed, but once you find a way around them, you feel that you can conquer the world. We've had many setbacks on this road to our 20-time project, but we eventually found our way around it.Our setback was that since none of us were at least eighteen, we wouldn't be able to host a football camps, since minors (us) can't be liable for minors (the kids at the camp). Because of this, we are changing our whole plan, from on the field to in the phone. We are going to create a social media web chain, called @togafootball, where we encourage kids to lift, and teach them the skills they need to compete to the best of their abilities. It is crucial that kids understand at a young age what real lifting is, and how their practice can make them better athletes on and off the field.

Introduction to Our 20-Time Project

When you were an 8th grader, how hard was it for you to transition from middle school to high school? Was your summer a lot different? Was the beginning of your school year difficult? It probably was. These were the questions that Niko, Quinn, and I faced when deciding what to do for our 20-time project. What a 20-time project is is when you spend 20 percent of a given time to solving a problem that you have. This problem could be a personal, community, or world problem. For example, you could dedicate your project to solving world hunger, or you could spend your time learning the piano. Whatever you see is a problem, you have the opportunity to go and fix it with 20-time. For our project, we want to host a football camp that helps incoming Freshman bridge the gap between middle and high school. The camp will be for all incoming freshman who are interested. We will teach them on-the-field skills, as well as going to the school weight room and teaching them some basic lifts. Our main focus for this project is to have all the freshman ready for the summer football. Summer football is very hard on the freshman, because they don’t know what to expect. By hosting this camp, we hope to give them a taste of what that summer football program will be like. We also want the new Freshman to be comfortable when the offseason rolls around.
